Scrapbook, softcover, 112 pages, 9 x 12", full color digital press, section-sewn and perfect bound, edition of 50, Colpa Press, 2017

"Scrapbook contains pages from Volume One of a series of scrapbooks begun in the 1960s. First in London, then in New York and continuing in San Francisco.

The contents were cut or torn from magazines or found blowing down the street. Also included are a few of my editorial illustrations. Some personal photos complete the collection.

Many of the earliest pieces come from a golden age of editorial photography and illustration, when newspapers first published a colour supplement on Sundays.

This edition ends with a photo of my childhood home. A very black and white beginning to an obsession with so many colourful images."

"This long-overdue monograph features David King's iconic stencil-only designs, starting with his legendary logo for the UK band Crass and continuing to the present day. Both the artist's process and finished output are on display in this revealing collection, from the covered-in-layers-of-paint stencils themselves to the drawings and designs outlining the thought process and ultimately the final art. Many of these works used multiple stencils and colors to create one-off finished pieces that you're likely to find only within the pages of this book. Includes essays by: Steven Heller, Matt Borruso, Barry McGee and Howard A. Rodman."

Sonambulists, hardcover, 36 pages, 8.25 x 11.75, black and white digital, perfect bound, Apple print on demand, MOsT Books, 2008

During the 2000s with the rise print on demand services, David King began to produce numerous books of photography through services such as Apple Books and Shutterfly. Often these books were devoted to a single subject such as the interior and surroundings of JG Ballard's home in Shepperton, or images of the puppets from Thunderbirds. The Somnambulists consists of photographs taken from the television screen from what appears to be a 1940s film noir serial – one of King's favorite genres. In the book armed gangsters are seen hiding, emerging from a hole in the floor of a cave, hopping trains, and smoking cigarettes. These images are interspersed with photographs of mysterious devices and objects often glowing and occasionally on fire.
